Workshops
Many clogging groups around Australia run fabulous weekend residential workshops. We have enjoyed attending the Aussie Clog Workshop run by Olive Borovsky in Queensland, Clog On presented by Neville Flegg in Victoria and Cheryl McFadyean's Club Weekends also in Victoria. One day we hope to visit more.
The Australian Clogging Association presents a National Clogging Convention each year; see "Links". These workshops have been run in a different state each year, since the first one was held in Sydney. In 2003 Adelaide Bluegrass Cloggers made the trip to the Victorian Convention in a huge, luxurious rented coach. In 2004, the 9th. ACA National Clogging Convention was held in Adelaide, at the Adelaide Shores Convention Centre at West Beach from September 17th to 19th. The invited overseas instructors were Steve Smith from Kentucky and Heather Kohberger from Georgia.[See Links] Gympie was again the venue for the 2005 National, while in August 2006, cloggers will travel to Hobart for the first Tasmanian based Convention.
Adelaide Bluegrass Cloggers runs a "Clogtober" workshop on the weekend after the long weekend in October. The relaxing surroundings at Tatachilla Camping and Convention Centre, the wonderful food and hospitality provided by the manager, John, and the great fun-loving crowd make this a workshop not to be missed.
The first one, in 2000 had guest instructors David McGrath and Neville Flegg, in 2002, Shirley Smith and Neville and in 2003, Kathy Hedger. In 2004, no Clogtober Workshop was held due to the ACA's National convention which was in Adelaide. In 2005, Kathy Hedger, Neville Flegg and Lindsay Rogers were among interstate instructors who presented fun workshops at Clogtober.
2006 Clogtober which will be held from October 8-10th, has the theme of "Gypsies Tramps & Thieves" so fill out the registration on the main page and get your costume ready for the Saturday dance.
